VILLAHERMOSA, ARTESANAL CHEESE TOUR

From the city of Villahermosa In the craft cheese tour you will see the work that goes into craft cheese making to on a rural farm in the municipality of Tenosique, Tabasco. The first point will visit is the archaeological site of Pomoná, this site played an important role as it was located between the entrance to the high Usumacinta and Guatemalan Peten, right by where producers and merchants to the coastal plains would pass by. The architecture of this site shares features with Palenque. After visiting the area and the museum we continue to Tenosique. Departure to Tenosique to make a brief stop at the Usumacinta Canyon (Boca Del Cerro).
We continue our path until we reach the Finca Alvarez, where our hosts will give us a tour of his craft workshop where they make different types of cheeses ranging from Provolón, strand Cheese, a pore Cheese, Cream Cheese, Manchego type, etc. Uncle Cheese Rodo is known as smoked artisan cheese, he has had presence in national and regional fairs, for its pleasant taste, this cheese has become part of the diet in many homes of Tabasco, all Mexico and abroad where tabasqueño cheese is well received.
Finally we will have a tasting of cheese and wine Jamaica (It is made in the same building). Time to rest and return to Villahermosa.
