MÉXICO, TAJÍN, VERACRUZ, CHIAPAS, YUCATÁN Y CANCÚN

12 Days / 11 Nights 

This route starts departing from Mexico City to the ancient totonaca capital City El Tajin, plus we will visit Veracruz City, Sumidero Canyon, San Cristobal de las Casas and the Impressive archaeological site of Palenque. We will end this adventure with an unforgetable visit to Merida and a relaxing time in the beaches of Cancun.

DAY 01. (TUE) ARRIVAL TRANSFER

Welcome at the Mexico City’s “Benito Juarez” international airport, transfer to the hotel of your choice and accommodation.

DAY 02. (WED) MEXICO CITY

Breakfast. We will start our city tour visiting the Cultural and Historic Heritage downtown district where we will find the National Palace and its beautiful murals painted by the great muralist Diego Rivera, the constitution square or “Zocalo”, the Main Aztec Temple and the Metropolitan Cathedral as well as some of the main avenues. Later, we will visit Chapultepec Park and one of the most important Residential areas of Mexico City, and the “Pink Zone”. Overnight. 

DAY 03. (THU) MEXICO – TAJIN – POZA RICA

Breakfast. Early departure to the archaeological and cultural heritage site of El Tajín, declared by UNESCO, located in the state of Veracruz, which was the Ceremonial site of the Totonaca culture, visiting its main building, the “PYRAMID DE LOS NICHOS”, which has 365 niches located in seven levels and it is associated with the days of the solar year; Its Ball game is well known for its rituals and the ceremonies that took place here. The astrological function of the main pyramid has similarities with other cultural zones in Mesoamerica. In the site of El Tajín, you may witness the ritual event of the “Papantla´s Indian Flyers”. Continue to Poza Rica. Overnight .

DAY 04. (FRI) POZA RICA – VERACRUZ

Breakfast. We will continue to the historical port of Veracruz, to visit the Castle of San Juan de Ulua, la Antigua City, where conqueror Hernan Cortes first disembarked in Mexico, the Portals at the Historical District, the sea side board walk or the Malecón, and the biggest Aquarium in Latin America. At night, you may enjoy the ambience that the downtown has to offer with its “Jarocho” atmosphere. Overnight. 

DAY 05. (SAT) VERACRUZ – SUMIDERO – SAN CRISTOBAL

Breakfast box lunch,  Departure to Tuxtla Gutierrez City, enjoying the landscapes of the southern mountains and Indian communities along the road. Take a Boat trip at the Sumidero Canyon, with 1,000 meters in its highest point. We will also visit Chiapa de Corzo and its impressive Mudejar style fountain. Continue to San Cristobal. Dinner. Overnight. 

DAY 06. (SUN) SAN CRISTOBAL DE LAS CASAS AND INDIAN TOWNS

Breakfast. Visit the typical Indian communities of San Juan Chamula and Zinacantán, to see some archaic rites, pagan-religious rituals that their people have kept until now;  in the Afternoon, visit this beautiful city: the Market, the Cathedral and the famous Santo Domingo church, amongst others Overnight. 

DAY 07. (M0N) SAN CRISTOBAL DE LAS CASAS– AGUA AZUL - PALENQUE

Breakfast. Continue to Agua Azul Falls, to admire its turquoise coloured waters. If time allows, we will visit  the beautiful Misol-Há waterfall. Continue to Palenque. Dinner and Overnight.

DAY 08. (TUE) PALENQUE - CAMPECHE

Breakfast. Visit to Palenque, declared a cultural and archaeological heritage site by UNESCO, and considered one of the most important Mayan archaeological sites, due to its historical and  architectural importance. Inside the Temple of the Inscriptions, it was found King Pakal’s Tomb. Departure to Campeche. Dinner. Overnight. 

DAY 09. (WED) CAMPECHE – UXMAL - MERIDA

Breakfast. Panoramic city tour of the Historic Fortified town of Campeche, declared a cultural and historic heritage site, to visit its cathedral, its fortresses, its walls, mansions and plazas; Departure to Uxmal, another impressive cultural and archaeological heritage site, also declared by UNESCO, to visit The Fortune Teller Pyramid, the Nun’s Square, the Governor’s Palace, and the Ballgame Court. Lunch and continue to Merida, “the White City” to take a panoramic tour through the Montejo boulevard, the monument to Motherland, the Main Square, its majestic mansions, etc. Overnight.

DAY 10. (THU) MERIDA – CHICHEN-ITZA - CANCUN OR MAYAN RIVIERA

Breakfast. Departure to Chichén Itzá, the most known Mayan ruins in Mexico, declared a cultural and archaeological heritage site by UNESCO, and recently named as a ONE OF THE NEW SEVEN  WONDERS OF THE WORLD, where we will visit the pyramid “The Castle”, the Ballgame Court, the Observatory, the One Thousand Columns Square, the Jaguars’ Temple, the Sacred Well (cenote), etc. Lunch. Continue to Cancun or Mayan Riviera. Overnight. 

DAY 11. (FRI) CANCUN OR MAYAN RIVIERA

Breakfast. free day at leisure or for your own activities. 

DAY 12. (SAT) DEPARTURE TRANSFER - END OF SERVICES

Breakfast. At the time indicated, transfer to the airport to board your return flight home.
