Visit the main centers of the Mayan Culture that still preserve their nature and mysticism, we will begin visiting the archaeological site of Palenque and Chichen Itza (the most know Mayan City in Mexico), plus enjoy the sun shine and the beaches of the Mayan Riviera.
Departures to Palenque on Thursday. Pax must be arriving to Mexico on Tuesday.
DAY 01. (THU) TRANSFER IN MEXICO CITY
Reception at the Mexico City international airport “Benito Juarez”, transfer to the hotel of your choice and lodging.
DAY 02. (FRI) GUADALUPE SHRINE / TEOTIHUACAN PYRAMIDS
Breakfast. We will begin our journey in Mexico City visiting the Square of the three cultures, where the past and the present mix; continue to the impressive archaeological zone of Teotihuacan, to admire the monumental Pyramids of the Sun and the Moon, the temple of Quetzalpapalotl, the citadel and the avenue of the dead. We will also visit an arts & crafts center. We return to Mexico City to visit the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patroness of America. Return to the hotel and rest of the day free.
DAY 03. (SAT) MEXICO / VILLAHERMOSA / PALENQUE
Breakfast. Transfer to the airport to take the flight to Villahermosa. Reception at Villahermosa airport and ground transfer to Palenque. Free afternoon. Lodging. Air ticket included.
DAY 04. (FRI) PALENQUE / CAMPECHE
Breakfast. We visit the impressive archaeological site of PALENQUE, this Mayan city surrounded by the jungle. Entrance and visit with a local guide to see its temples, pyramids, and ball game. After that, we travel to the Gulf of Mexico through the state of Tabasco. CAMPECHE, arrival in this Mexican port city known for its colonial buildings and its 17th-century fortifications created to face pirate attacks. Dinner included. Lodging.
DAY 5. (SAT) CAMPECHE / MÉRIDA
Breakfast. Departure to the state of YUCATAN, and in just over two hours, we arrive in MERIDA. Visit the city, the vibrant capital of the state that treasures a rich colonial and Mayan heritage, we know the fortified cathedral of Merida and the limestone church of the Third Order, as well as the Casa de Montejo, a mansion of the sixteenth-century, is an emblem of colonial architecture plateresque. Afternoon at leisure, we suggest you visit the Museum of the Mayan World on your own. In the evening, we include a transfer to attend the “Representation of the Mayan ball”. Lodging.
DAY 6. (SUN) MÉRIDA / IZAMAL / CHICHEN ITZÁ / RIO LAGARTOS
Breakfast. Today, we have a nice stage to get to know the state of Yucatan. IZAMAL, one of the most beautiful towns in Mexico, was declared a “Magical Town”. In CHICHEN ITZÁ, we include entrance and visit to the most important and renowned vestige of the Mayan civilization, a World Heritage Site; we will visit the ancient city and the mythical pyramid of Kukulcán and the temple of the warriors. After the visit, we include a meal of Mayan cuisine. We then travel to RIO LAGARTOS, a small fishing village in the middle of a Biosphere Reserve. Lodging.
DAY 07. (MON) RIO LAGARTOS / CENOTE CHOJ HA / CANCUN
Breakfast. Today, we enjoy an exciting day where nature is the protagonist. In the morning, we include a boat ride of a little more than two hours. We enter the biosphere reserve; we will be able to see crocodiles among its mangroves, lots of birds, including pelicans and pink flamingos. You can also “live the mud experience” by smearing mud with high concentrations of sulfur, minerals, and salts that act as exfoliants for the skin, leaving a feeling of softness throughout the body. After that, we travel to VALLADOLID, the third city of the Yucatan with a very nice historic center. We recommend lunch in one of the restaurants in its central square. In the afternoon, we visit the CENOTE CHOJ HA, managed by the local Mayan community. You will walk along a short path in the jungle to visit its dry cave, and you can swim in the wonderful lake inside the wet cave. Continuation to CANCUN, arrival at the end of the afternoon. Lodging.
DAY 08. (TUE) FREE DAY
Breakfast. Free day for personal activities or to enjoy the beach. Lodging.
DAY 09. (WED) DEPARTURE TRANSFER / END OF SERVICES
Breakfast. At the time indicated, transfer to the airport to board your return flight home. End of the services.
