CUSTOMS AND TRADITIONS

The tour begins with a comprehensive introduction to the history of the region at the Zihuatanejo anthropological museum, after which you will drive along the Pacific coast to the picturesque town of Petatlán. Along the way you will stop at a local bakery and if the owner is working, which is not always guaranteed, you can observe the ancient way of preparing fresh coconut bread. Otherwise, we’ll stop at the town’s unique market of San Jeronimito for a snack before continuing on to Petatlán, our main stop on this tour. The Petatlán tour includes the local market with the different Mexican spices and chilies, cacti and medicinal herbs and the opportunity to buy gold at the gold market at very reasonable prices. Because the people of the state of Guerrero link many miracles with the “Christ of Petatlán”, a visit to this church will be one of the highlights of the tour. On the way back to Zihuatanejo, you’ll stop for lunch at a beachfront restaurant, before returning to your hotel in the early afternoon.
