MINERAL DE POZOS MAGIC TOWN FROM SAN MIGUEL DE ALLENDE

Mineral de Pozos had several very rich periods of bonanza, but the day came when the minerals ran out and this ghost town was left to be admired by adventurous visitors. In Mineral de Pozos you can still appreciate the remains of what was once a great town, wealthy thanks to its mining industry. Today, its imposing buildings show us the loneliness of a sad decadence, abandoned with the passing of time. Pozos was founded in 1576 to protect the silver route from the Chichimecas. Because it was very difficult to civilize this indigenous group, this work was entrusted to the Jesuits who realized the wealth found in the minerals of this area and taught these people techniques to extract and exploit the metals.
