MONARCH BUTTERFLY

During this tour, we will visit the Sanctuary of the Rosary or the Sanctuary of Sierra Chincua, located in Michoacán at an altitude of more than 3000 meters above sea level and 3 hours from Morelia. The mountains of this biosphere reserve are home to a variety of microclimates and numerous endemic species of flora and fauna. Every fall, millions or perhaps a billion monarch butterflies from large areas of North America nest in small areas of the reserve’s forest, dyeing their trees orange. The weight of so many butterflies even folds the branches.
