EMPIRE MIXTECA

You will start the tour visit to El Tule, a small town famous for its millenary tree known as “El Árbol del Tule”, which is revered as one of the oldest and largest living beings in the world. You will continue to a mezcal factory, where you will have the opportunity to learn about the mezcal production process, from agave harvesting to distillation. You will go to the archaeological zone of Mitla, richly decorated by geometric figures; this place is dedicated to the God of death, Mictlantecuhtli; the Mixtec name for it is Mictlán ‘place of the dead” and in Zapotec: Lyobaá ‘place of rest’. We will then head to Teotitlán del Valle, where local artisans create traditional rugs and textiles. Finally we will visit Hierve el Agua, a surprising place where mineral springs create petrified formations that resemble frozen waterfalls.

Note:

It is suggested to bring a box lunch (snacks/fruits), a cap or hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, comfortable clothes, tennis or non-slip shoes, a bottle of water, and to “Hierve el agua” you must bring an additional pair of sandals for this if you want to get your feet wet. The water in the pools is cold at room temperature and the waterfalls are petrified

Note:

For tours that include round trip transportation from the hotel; the pick up schedule will be assigned according to the zone, in high season or for social reasons the pick up and drop off will be at meeting points (Confirm meeting points before confirming).
If the passenger does not want to be picked up at his hotel, he will have to arrive on his own at the meeting point (05 de Mayo No. 300).
