ANTIGUA AND ZEMPOALA FROM VERACRUZ

Heading north of the city, 45 km from the port, we will arrive at Cempoala, a place of “twenty waters” that gives its meaning for being surrounded by rivers in the region, in addition to being one of the important archaeological zones of the state, it has several buildings that Today they are of great architectural beauty such as the Templo Mayor, Temple of the Chimneys, Circle of the Gladiators, Temple of the Caritas, the temple of God Wind and the Cross, in addition to having a site museum. This mystical complex will remind us of when it functioned as the second capital of the Totonaca empire before being dominated by the Aztec empire.

We pass to the OLD where we will find legacies of the Spanish conquest, such as the Casa del Cabildo, the first town hall in the new Spain, the Ermita del Rosario, the first Catholic church in Mexico, and the house of Hernán Cortés, in addition to enjoying the picturesque place with its suspension bridge over the Huitzilapan river.

We finish with a panoramic tour of the Historic Center of Veracruz to see its main historic buildings in this ancient city.
