FROM CAMPECHE: ARCHAEOLOGICAL ZONE EDZNÁ HACIENDAS
We will immerse ourselves in the golden age of “green gold” in southeastern Mexico: henequen. On this tour, we will explore majestic historic haciendas that evoke the splendor of centuries past, as well as a little-known archaeological site full of beauty and mystery. Our first stop will be Xcalumkin, where we will tour its elegant palaces, stone decorations, and ancient roads. Next, we will enter the charming Santa Cruz hacienda where local artisans will show us the traditional process of making hats with jipi japa palm fiber, a craft of great cultural value in Campeche. Our next stop will be in Tankuché, where we will learn about the melipona bee, a native stingless species, and its medicinal properties. Finally, before returning, we will enjoy a traditional Campechean lunch, prepared with local ingredients and served in an authentic and relaxed atmosphere at the majestic Hacienda Blanca Flor. Here you can appreciate the colonial architecture that evokes the splendor of the 19th century during the heyday of henequen, known as “green gold”.
